Text Box: The Summer Intensive for Adult Dancers is July 11th through 17th 2005.
An Intensive week of dance is planned for adults that love to dance. Dancers will partake in several technique classes throughout the week with an international faculty. The Artistic Directors Pedro Szalay and Lesley Tunstall have taught several summer intensives and danced professional throughout the world. Currently Mr  Szalay is a principal dancer with the Richmond ballet. He is a master teacher that is in great demand. Lesley Tunstall has danced professionally and is now the owner and director of the Dance Academy of SC. 
The Adult Dance Intensive provides an opportunity for intensive study in a supportive, non-competitive and personalized setting. Classes are offered all day with a limited number of students in each class so each dancer receives personalized attention.
Classes will primary focus on technique. Classical ballet will be offered every day. There will also be pointe work, variations, pas de deux, Men’s class,  pilates,  a jazz  and modern class, character dance and salsa dancing. There will also be lectures given by physical therapists and most days will end with a stretch class. 
The Faculty
The Faculty, along with Mr Szalay and Ms Tunstall, will all be professionals that have all performed in major dance companies.
Kathy Sawyer is formally a principal dancer with the Louisville Ballet. She has taught is several companies for the last five years. Kathy is no stranger to teaching adults and she is excited to share her knowledge with the participants of theis year's Adult Dance Intensive.
Philip Skaggs was born in Louisville, Ky. He has trained at the Nutmeg Conservatory. He has been a professional dancer with the Hartford Ballet and the Richmond Ballet.
The Facility
Pivotal Stage, the name of the building which houses the Dance Academy and Pucks Theatre has two of the largest dance studios in the Pee Dee. Both studios are equipped with sprung wooden floors and state of the art sound systems, wrap around mirrors and barres. The space is 6,500 square feet with dressing rooms, costume shop, waiting room, green room and offices. There is also a large space where Pucks Theatre builds all the sets for the  ballets that the Dance academy performs.
The space has a large parking lot with a backyard porch where dancers can eat lunch or relax. It is located in the centre of town with restaurants, shopping and hotels all within walking distance.
The YMCA which houses a Olympic size pool, steam room, sauna, hot tub and state of the art fitness equipment is only a few minutes walk away. There will be special rates for those attending the Intensive.
The movie theatre, a museum, library, and a beautiful park are also one block from the studio.
Getting here
The city of Florence is a short ride away from Hartsville.  Exit 98 of I95 is 25 minutes from Hartsville once you exit. Florence airport is a 35 minute car ride from the studio. Charlotte NC is 2 hours,  and Columbia  SC is 90 minutes, both have major International airports.
We can arrange too pick up dancers for the summer intensive, from the airport for a minimum fee if you arrange it beforehand.
Once here there is no need for a car. You can park your car at the studios, free of charge
Tuition
Tuition for each Dance Camp is $530. This includes lunch Monday through Saturday and all classes.
Tuition is due in full with your application. Space is limited so early application is suggested to guarantee admission.

A $150 cancellation fee will apply. Partial refund for cancellations prior to 30 days. No refunds within 30 days of the program.
Once you apply, you will soon receive a  welcome packet complete with all the information. you will need to make a hotel reservation. There are three hotels close by and an historic bed and breakfast. With affordable rates.  We will also send you information on finding a roommate, travel, directions, a list of essentials to bring, restaurants, and the dance schedule. The Welcome Packets will be mailed soon after we receive your tuition.
